Do I have to be a full‑time student to live on campus?
Yes. All on‑campus residents must be full‑time students. This means maintaining a minimum of 12 credit hours, or, for students in our English Language Learning Institute, meeting their full‑time enrollment requirements.

What are the costs, and is there a housing discount?
Room and board costs vary based on your selected room type and meal plan. On average, you should budget around $5,800 per semester. For a detailed breakdown of housing fees, meal plan options, and any available discounts, please refer to our Housing & Meal Plan Information.

What are the advantages of living on campus?
Living on campus offers unmatched convenience and community. You’ll enjoy:

• Easy access to classes and key facilities (library, Academic Center, advising services, fitness center, etc.)
• Apartment‑style dorms with private bathrooms for you and your roommates
• An active community with events and programs organized by Resident Assistants and Student Activities

Will I be guaranteed housing?
Housing assignments are based on availability and individual application reviews, including geographic considerations. Some applicants may receive assignments earlier, while others may be placed on a waitlist. The sooner you complete these steps, the better your chances of securing a spot in our residence halls. We can’t wait to welcome you to your home away from home!

How many residence halls are there?
We offer three modern residence halls on campus.

How many students live in the residence halls?
Our residence halls can accommodate approximately 1,000 students, creating a dynamic and diverse living environment.

Are freshmen required to live on campus?
While freshmen are not required to live on campus, we highly encourage it. Living on campus places you close to academic buildings and offers a variety of social and educational opportunities outside the classroom.

Do you have housing specifically for graduate students?
Currently, we do not offer separate housing for graduate students. However, all enrolled graduate students are welcome to choose from our available on‑campus options. Please note that family housing is not available.

What about internet or cable?
All residence halls feature robust Wi‑Fi throughout the buildings. Although traditional cable is not provided in individual dorm rooms, cable service is available in student lounges. You can also stream your favorite shows on personal devices or connect your own TV for gaming and entertainment.

Where can I do my laundry?
Each residence hall includes on‑site laundry facilities. Simply use our CSCGo app for a quick and convenient laundry experience.

Do the residence halls stay open during official breaks?
Yes, residence halls remain open during official academic breaks. Please note, however, that the regular meal plan does not operate during these periods, so you’ll need to arrange your own meals.

May I bring my own furniture?
Our rooms come fully furnished with essentials including a bed, desk, chair, bureau, and closet. You’re welcome to bring additional furniture, but please coordinate with your roommate(s) to ensure there’s enough space. Also, note that all assigned furniture must remain in the room.

Are the residence halls or apartments co‑ed?
Room assignments are made by gender, but all residence hall floors are co‑ed, promoting a diverse and inclusive community.

How do I receive my mail?
Mail and packages should be addressed to:

What should I bring when I move in?
Once you’re offered a room, you’ll receive a move‑in checklist that outlines what to bring—and what not to bring—to your residence. For more details, please review our Move‑In Checklist.

Who has access to the residence halls?
Your student ID card grants you 24‑hour access to all residence halls, ensuring secure entry into your building at any time.

How is safety maintained in the residence halls?
Safety is our top priority. Our secure swipe‑card system provides key entry to each room, and public safety, in collaboration with Residence Life staff, regularly patrols the halls. Security cameras monitor all common areas, and Resident Assistants along with a Residence Director are on duty nightly and reachable via a duty cell phone during operating hours.

Are pets allowed in the residence halls?
Pets and animals are not allowed. Exceptions are made for service animals and approved assistance animals, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments of 2008, but these must be approved prior to move‑in.

Am I allowed to have a car on campus?
No. On‑campus housing is for students without cars. Parking is reserved for commuter students with valid parking hang tags, available at Allison Hall. With excellent public transportation nearby, getting around campus and the greater New York City area is easy.

How will my roommate be chosen?
During the housing application process, you’ll answer lifestyle questions—including preferred bedtime, study habits, and more—to help us match you with a compatible roommate.

Can I request a specific roommate?
Yes. While we can’t guarantee every request, we make every effort to accommodate your preferences based on availability. To request a particular roommate, please include their name and ID number in your application. Applying early increases your chances of securing your preferred match.

Please note: The eRezLife housing and roommate selection process is available only during the fall semester. Students moving in for winter or spring should indicate their roommate preferences on the application.

What is the refund policy if I choose to leave the dormitories?

• Weeks 1-2: 85% refund
• Week 3: 50% refund
• Week 4 and beyond: No refund
