Menen Pierre

“In Saint Lucia, everyone knows one another and we greet each other with a polite smile. I was greeted with these feelings of togetherness when I enrolled at Monroe.”

Menen Pierre is currently working toward her master’s degree in criminal justice, making her the first in her family to reach this higher level of education. She works as a graduate assistant in the First Year Experience office. She earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2019 and received a Dean’s Award for her academic achievements. While an undergraduate student, Menen interned at the office of Assemblyman Michael Blake, where she represented the Assemblyman at various community board and precinct meetings.

The St. Lucia native said her favorite part of Monroe is its tight-knit community which reminds her of how she grew up. “In Saint Lucia, everyone knows one another and we always greet each other with a polite smile,” she said. “I was greeted with these feelings of togetherness when I enrolled at Monroe.”
