Ana Garcia

"AT FIRST, I WAS TOO INTIMIDATED TO GO INTO THE CLASSROOM AS A STUDENT TEACHER. MY PROFESSORS STOOD BY ME AND NOW I’M CONFIDENT IN LEADING MY CLASS."

After transferring to Monroe, Ana Garcia’s college experience was nothing short of amazing and

rewarding. Ana graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education summa cum laude. Now, she is a kindergarten teacher at the Washington Heights and Inwood Music (WHIM) Community Center.

Monroe played a pivotal role in Ana's personal and professional growth. The supportive professors were always accessible, keeping her motivated even on challenging days. The smaller class sizes provided ample attention, which helped Ana remain focused throughout her studies. Securing a job post-graduation was facilitated by Monroe’s extensive community connections, making the transition into her career smoother.

Initially apprehensive about classroom teaching during her student teaching phase, Ana found support from her professors who co-taught with her until she gained confidence. Today, she feels assured and competent in leading her own classroom, thanks to the guidance and mentoring she received at Monroe.
