Winter Semester 101:
What you need to know
COVID Protocols
The health and wellness of our College community remains our greatest priority. Accordingly, although New York State has removed some of its COVID restrictions, we have not relaxed our protocols on campus. With the Delta and Omnicron variants proving to be a challenge, keeping our guard up remains the right thing to do.
That means:
- Wearing a face mask properly at all times on campus
- Showing the proof of vaccination icon on our Red e App upon request
- Maintaining a healthy distance from others in shared spaces
- Washing hands frequently and using hand-sanitizing stations
- Plexiglass shields remain in place in campus offices
On-Campus Vaccination Requirement
We are once again requiring all who come to campus on a regular basis to be vaccinated and share proof of their vaccination status. This mandate applies to students, staff, faculty, and outside guests.
We recognize that there may be some people who are still hesitant about getting vaccinated. There is a lot of misinformation out there. We encourage you to get the facts. Talk to your doctor. Listen to the medical experts.
Special Hello to Our New Students
If you’re starting your first semester at Monroe this January, we hope that you have an amazing experience with us!
Don’t be nervous about a thing. Our FYE or Student Services teams will take great care of you. If you still need to register for classes, they will help.
FYE students — new incoming freshmen who recently graduated high school — may reach out to Chris Cascio for assistance at ccascio@monroeu.edu. Transfer students and adult learners may reach out to Ted Goldstein for help. He is at tgoldstein@monroeu.edu. They will help to connect you to the right person to register you for classes!
Register for Classes
Continuing students, if you have not yet registered for classes, we’re here to help you do so. Let’s get you registered! Please reach out to your Student Services advisor for help. If you don’t know who that is, please reach out to Dean Carol Genese at cgenese@monroeu.edu for assistance.
New Student Applications
Good news: We are still accepting applications for the Winter semester. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a Monroe student, the first step is to complete our online application here.
The last day to register for classes is Tuesday, January 18th, so it's important that you submit your application paperwork right away to be considered for admission this Winter.
Semester Schedule
Classes will start on Friday, January 7th and end on Friday, April 8th. Final exams will take place between April 9th and 15th.
The full academic calendar is posted on our website here. As it shows, we have two College holidays during the Winter semester. That means all offices will be closed and classes will not be held. They are:
- Monday, January 17: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Monday, February 21: Presidents’ Day
On-Campus Housing is Still Available
If you’ve been thinking about living on campus, now is your time! We have some great rooms still available in our New Rochelle residence halls for the Winter semester. You can learn more about on-campus housing here. If you have any questions, simply reach out to Joeane Laurent in Residence Life at 914-740-6618 or jlaurent@monroeu.edu.
Shuttle Bus Schedule
The shuttle bus will be running between the Bronx and New Rochelle campuses. The schedule will posted just before the start of the new semester.
Where to Get Help
Students, our staff and faculty are here to help you settle into your new course schedule and have an amazing Monroe experience!
