Accelerated Three-Semester Schedule
Monroe’s three-semester academic calendar provides students with the opportunity to complete their degrees at a steady, year-round pace. With semesters in Fall (September–December), Winter (January–April), and Spring (April–August), this flexible schedule allows for continuous learning, early graduation options, and an efficient path to achieving academic and career goals.
Application Checklist
1. Application
- Apply Online:
Create your account at monroeu.edu/apply and submit your application. - Essay:
Write your essay directly in the application portal:- Undergraduate: 350 words
- Graduate: 500 words
ESL applicants are exempt from the essay requirement.
- Graduate Applicants Only:
Upload professional resume and two letters of recommendation to your applicant portal. - Application Fee:
Pay your fee online via our portal or through Flywire:- Undergraduate: $35
- Graduate: $50
2. Transcript & Documentation
- Transcript:
Upload your unofficial high school transcript, diploma, and any applicable external exams in your admissions portal.

Upload your Bachelor's Degree transcript and diploma to your applicant portal, and transcripts from any graduate degree program, if applicable. - Standardized Tests:
SAT/ACT is not required for admission. - English Proficiency:
If English is not your native language, submit proof of English proficiency.

3. Interview (Optional)
- Schedule your interview:
Once your online application is submitted, your admissions advisor’s name and email will appear in your portal. You may schedule a phone or Zoom meeting or upload a video to outline your goals.
5. Admissions Decision
- Decision Notification:
The Admissions Committee will post your decision in your portal once all required documents are submitted. Accepted students will then move on to the I-20/F1 Visa process.
Second Master's Degree Program
The King Graduate School at Monroe University is a top choice for international and local professionals looking to enhance their expertise with a second master’s degree. Our program offers flexible scheduling with a combination of virtual LIVE, on-site, and online courses, along with a 7-credit minimum full-time course load in a supportive academic environment. With competitive tuition and a professional experience track that includes Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and internship opportunities, students gain valuable hands-on experience at the graduate level.

Transfer International Applicants (Students in the U.S.)
- Spring 2025 (April) Deadline: April 1
- Fall 2025 (September) Deadline: August 15
Applicants from Ghana, Gambia, and Nigeria should apply for Fall 2025 only due to visa processing times.

Practical Training Opportunities (OPT & CPT)
International students on an F-1 visa have the opportunity to gain real-world work experience through practical training programs:
- Curricular Practical Training (CPT): Available during a student’s academic program, CPT provides hands-on work experience in a position directly related to their field of study.
- Optional Practical Training (OPT): Available after graduation, OPT allows students to apply their education in a professional setting while gaining valuable industry experience.
English Language Support
Monroe’s innovative EASE (Enhanced Academic Support in English) program provides language assistance on campus, allowing students to learn English at the same time they are engaged in their studies.
We also offer a comprehensive ESL program which helps students whose primary language is not English. Through a combination of language instruction, cultural immersion, and hands-on lab experiences, students gain fluency. As an ESL student, you'll build connections with others who share your goals while experiencing life on a college campus—with the potential to transition into a full-time degree program in the future..
Au Pair Academy
Monroe’s Au Pair Academy offers continuing education classes both online and on campus at 145 Huguenot Street, New Rochelle. With years of experience supporting au pairs, our team understands your academic and career goals. We look forward to welcoming you to our friendly and supportive college community!
J1 Visa Student Exchange Program
Monroe welcomes J1 exchange students from around the world! International students currently studying at foreign universities and institutions of higher education can study for 1-3 semesters at our New Rochelle campus. J1 students will receive up to 15 college credits in their degree program while living on campus and experiencing the cultural diversity of New York.

Personalized Academic and Career Support
Every student, including our international students, is assigned a dedicated academic advisor at the start of their studies to provide ongoing guidance and support. Our Office of Career Services works closely with students one-on-one, offering resume preparation, job application assistance, and mock interviews to help you navigate your career path. Additionally, free tutoring is available throughout your academic journey.
