  • MyMonroe Health

    The Health Services team at Monroe College is dedicated to helping students stay healthy and make smart lifestyle choices that support their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.  

    Our programs and services include: 

    • Referrals to local healthcare providers and facilities (including mental health, sexual health, and substance abuse services)
    • STD/STI testing and free condom distribution
    • Health promotion and education events (nutrition, time management, conflict resolution, coping with stress, etc.)
    • Facilitating New York State of Health Insurance coverage

    Immunizations

    New York State Public Health Law 2165 requires students enrolled in an in-state college to have certain immunizations or proof of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR). Students are also required to maintain a meningitis vaccine or sign a waiver stating they will not be immunized against meningitis and understand the risks of not receiving the vaccine. Students who are not compliant with this law after 30 days will not be able to attend class until they are complaint. 

    We encourage anyone needing any of these vaccinations to contact us for assistance. We can help direct you to a local healthcare providers where they can be obtained. Some may be available at no charge through the local health department or through the insurance carrier.

    Medical Insurance

    Any student living in New York State – including foreign citizens -- is eligible for free or low-cost health insurance.  We have insurance company representatives on campus Monday-Thursday from 10am-4pm in Main Hall to help enroll interested students enroll in a plan that best fits their health and financial needs.

    Confidentiality

    Rest assured, all health services are confidential. Access to student records is limited to authorized Student Health Services providers only. We cannot legally or ethically share your records with anyone outside of MyMonroe Health staff, including your parents, Monroe College administration, or any outside agencies.

By collaborating with healthcare providers and facilities in the surrounding community of New Rochelle, we are able to refer students to an appropriate professional dependent upon their specific health needs. The Health and Wellness Services will instill a newfound set of skills, resources, and knowledge within the students to achieve both health and academic success. The center will also provide preventative health education and information to empower students to take control of, improve, and maintain their health.
