  • Academics at Monroe College

For more than 80 years, Monroe College has dedicated itself to providing career-oriented education and training to maximize student success. The college provides well-developed support systems both in and out of the classroom, allowing students who are serious about their goals to thrive.

A Bachelor's degree in the American college system requires 8 semesters of study, the completion of 40 courses or 120 credits. Monroe College believes that students benefit from an accelerated academic year that offers three academic semesters during the 12-month calendar year. Known as the Monroe Advantage Plan, in this accelerated plan, each semester is a standard 15-week course of study. Generally, semesters run from September to December, January to April and from May to August. As a result, many students complete a traditional one-and-a-half academic year of study in just 12 months, allowing them to complete their Bachelor's degree in eight semesters, which is less than three years.
