  • Saturday Program

Monroe College’s Saturday Program offers busy working adults a way to earn their degree efficiently at a tuition that is 30% less than our traditional degree programs.

Students beginning their Associate or Bachelor’s degree attend classes on Saturdays only. These classes utilize the “flipped classroom” model, where much of the hands-on, project-based learning happens in class, while the reading, lectures and discussions take place online.

Throughout the 15-week semester, students take two classes during the first 7.5 weeks and two more classes during the second 7.5 weeks – this allows students to focus on two classes at a time, while maintaining full-time student status.

    Saturday Program Advantages

Affordability – Full-time students enrolled in the Saturday Program save more than $2000 a semester in tuition costs, a savings of 30% compared to our traditional 15-week classes. In addition, full-time students may be eligible for Pell and TAP.

Success – Students in the Saturday Program are able to focus on the two classes they are taking during each session, rather than juggling four or five classes, which results in higher performance. Students in 7.5 week classes at Monroe have demonstrated a completion success rate higher than those of traditional working adults.

Convenience – Our Saturday Program allows students to take classes without coming to campus every day. It allows students to balance work, child care and other responsibilities with attending school. These programs allow students to decrease their commuting time, as well as time spent managing the due dates and homework associated with taking 4-5 classes each week.

Access – Students enrolled in Monroe’s Saturday Program have full access to all of the college’s resources, including libraries, e-databases, tutoring and writing centers.

Requirements – Students must meet the usual Monroe College admissions requirements. In addition, they must have a working computer with high-speed internet, a webcam and a headset. Without these tools, students will not be able to participate in the online portion of their classes.
