Alum of the Month March 2016- Oratio Thomas

March 01, 2016

Oratio Thomas is the Regional Director of Advanced Solutions at Zones, for North East USA.  Zones is one of the largest and fastest growing technology solution providers in the U.S.   Its primary business is sales of I.T. hardware and software services to Fortune 500 companies and large enterprise organizations, as well as growing firms of 250 to 5,000 employees.  Oratio works in the Information Technology department in sales and service.

Prior to graduating from Monroe, he worked part-time in the Monroe College IT department . “Monroe afforded me the opportunity to gain experience while completing my degree. I started off with a great foundation which I was able to expand on and create new opportunities for myself,” says Oratio.

As a student leader, Oratio strived for academic excellence.  He was awarded President’s List Honors every semester he was enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree Program. In August 2003, Oratio graduated Summa Cum Laude with his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems.

Oratio says,  “I felt all of the Monroe staff and faculty wanted me to succeed. I had lots of encouragement and support. I don’t know that I would’ve made it without the help of the faculty and staff.   Certifications are important but nothing beats experience.  Get experience!   If you do not have any relevant industry experience, work for free if you can, the knowledge you gain will be invaluable.”

The Alumni Office would like to congratulate Oratio on his continued success!
