  • The Jumpstart Program at Monroe College

For more than 10 years, Monroe has invited high school juniors and seniors to get an early start on their college education by spending Saturday mornings in our Jumpstart Program.

Jumpstart affords ambitious high school students the opportunity to challenge themselves by taking one of our college courses. The classes are taught by our exceptional faculty members using the same course materials we use when teaching our freshmen.

There is no cost for the program and textbooks are provided.

More than 10,000 students to date have completed this program, earning three transferable college credits per course at no cost.

    The Jumpstart Advantage

    • Classes are taught by experienced Monroe College faculty
    • Jumpstart classes are offered free of charge to qualified candidates – a value of over $1,700 per 3-credit course
    • Monroe credits are transferable so students are able to apply them to an education at Monroe or another institution
    • Students could be eligible for scholarships and grants upon acceptance and commitment to Monroe College

    Earning College Credit

Jumpstart classes are offered once per week during both fall and winter semesters and students may register in either September or January for each semester, respectively. Students must adhere to the college attendance policy and complete required exams and assignments to earn a grade and be awarded college credit.
