Monroe's Queens Extension Center is located in the heart of downtown Flushing, a vibrant and ethnically mixed district of Queens.
Brass (Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba) and
Woodwind (Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone) musicians should prepare music that
demonstrates your abilities. Your audition will include a minimum of one
prepared song and major scales. Students interested in Drumline should be
prepared to demonstrate all 40 drum rudiments. Auditions may be pre-recorded or
Dancers and Cheerleaders need related experience, but do not
need to audition unless they are applying for a scholarship. Instead, they should make their admissions
counselor aware of their interest.
The Marching Band Scholarship may be up to $13,500 per award
year ($4,500 per semester) to students who meet the qualifications for
membership in the Monroe Marching Band. Actual awards are made annually and
vary based on the student’s eligibility for financial aid grants, available
funding, and judgment of the Marching Band Director. Awards will be renewed continuously for
students who maintain membership in the Marching Band as per the Band director,
good academic standing and continuous enrollment.
