Student Life

Between clubs, athletics, and various trips and social functions, Monroe College has extra curricular activities for every student. The number of on-campus clubs on both the New Rochelle and Bronx campuses is constantly growing and so is student participation. Monroe provides staff or faculty advisement for all clubs, which include our award-winning Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team, Drama Club, Poetry Clubs, Environmental Clubs and host of academic clubs.

Monroe also fields six varsity sports teams and invites all students to show their Mustang pride and appreciation by coming out to watch our athletes perform. Monroe teams include women's volleyball, men's soccer, men's and women's basketball, women's softball and men's baseball. Our athletes have brought home numerous local and regional awards, and the women's basketball team won the 2006 NJCAA national championship. Intramural sports are also popular on the New Rochelle campus.

Monroe also sponsors a wide range of social events for students. Some recent events include movies and readings celebrating Black History Month, talent shows, drama productions and trivia contests.

Of course, New York City is the cultural capital of the country, so Monroe organizes trips to museums, sporting events, and music and art shows. Most events are low-cost and include chaperones from the school's faculty or staff.

A calendar is published daily on the web site and a more comprehensive list of clubs and activities is available in the Student Life section of the site.
