The core of Monroe’s Mission: JOBS!

Since its founding 75 years ago, Monroe College has been dedicated to helping students launch careers.  That mission was on glorious display on Wednesday, March 26 as the OCA held its Spring Job and Internship Fair.  As many as 750 Monroe students and graduates were greeted by more than 80 employers in hopes of landing a job or internship.

"This event cuts to the center of what Monroe College is all about," said OCA Dean Carol Genese.  Our OCA staff, in conjunction with a number of different Monroe departments, partnered to provide opportunities for students to succeed.  And give the students credit, too.  They researched the firms, came dressed and prepared with resumes, and in the long run they each will benefit."

It is of particular satisfaction to Dean Genese that several of the employer booths were staffed by Monroe alums who have succeeded in business and are now in position to hire other Monroe students and grads.

"The notion of building successful careers for our students is ingrained in every aspect of Monroe college life," said Dean Genese.  "From the first day of Freshman Orientation, through each and every class a student attends and events like this, to graduation and beyond, the college will stop at nothing to support our students' drive for success.  This superb job fair is an important link in that chain."
