In its first year of varsity play in 2004, the Lady Mustangs were more than respectable. They finished 10-9, won the important games down the stretch of the season, and clinched a playoff spot. With that first season under their belts, Monroe went on to make the Region Championship game in just their second year of varsity play. They repeated as region finalists in 2006 and with a new head coach in 2007, they again made the playoffs, advancing to the semi-final round. In 2008 they were Region XV finalists.
