Bert Shillingford - Director of Athletics

Bert Shillingford received a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Management from Baruch College in 1985, after which he attended graduate school at Mercy College and received a Master's degree in Organizational Leadership, with highest honors. Through the years Bert has also attended many management seminars and workshops, fine-tuning his natural abilities to lead.
He has committed and dedicated many years to Athletics and to Career Development among young adults in the tri-state metropolitan area community, who have benefited greatly from his untiring devotion, guidance, leadership and vision. "His efforts and unselfishness have enabled many young adults to develop sportsmanship while building character, to hone their skills and nurture their academic interests to ultimately achieve their goals, and I consider him to be one of the most talented and accomplished persons on my staff," said Mr. Stephen Jerome, President, Monroe College.

Heather MacCulloch - Associate Director of Athletics / Compliance Coordinator

Heather MacCulloch was most recently the Associate Director of Athletics/NCAA Compliance at Bloomfield College for more than six years. She arrived at Bloomfield College after serving as the Interim Director of Athletics at Felician College from February 2002 - February 2003. Prior to her post as Interim Director, she was the SWA/Compliance Coordinator for Felician College from November 1999-February 2003. During her time at Felician, she helped lead the athletic department from NAIA membership to NCAA Division II full membership status.
MacCulloch was a member of the intensive NCAA Division II Legislation Committee September 2005 – September 2008. As part of her service on the committee she was the NCAA Division II Chair of the Legislative Sub-Committee. She has also served on the NCAA Regional Softball Committee for a 3 year period. She was a member of the ECAC Board of Directors has sat on conference ethics and infractions committees for a number of years. She is a member of NACWAA, is a NACWAA/LEI West graduate 2009 and is currently serving on the NACWAA Legislation Committee.
MacCulloch holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Concordia College New York and a M.A. in Education/Sports Management from Adelphi University

Gary Axelbank - Director of Public Relations

Gary wears many hats. In addition to his duties as Director of Public Relations and SID at Monroe College, Gary is one of the Bronx' most popular television personalities. He has hosted BronxTalk on Bronxnet television for the past thirteen years and has been the television play-by-play announcer for Mustang basketball for the past nine years.
A lifelong Bronx resident, Gary was the Director of Public Relations at the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center and a producer at WNBC television. In 1976, he received his BA in English from Lehman College. |
