As a native of St. Catherine, Jamaica, Ann McLaughlin attended St. Hugh’s High School and then migrated to the US while still in high school. As a young Caribbean student, she adjusted quickly to the new and challenging environment of Yonkers, New York and immediately excelled in academics and civic duties; completing high school early and moving into a leadership position at her local church youth group. Ms. McLaughlin rapidly established herself as a harbinger for opportunities in her small community. At that juncture, she completed her undergraduate studies at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration (Finance and Economics) subsequently earning her Master’s in Business (MBA) and Accounting (MaCC) at Nova Southeastern University, located in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
As in her youth, Ms. McLaughlin continued to seek out opportunities to challenge herself. She attained positions as a tax accountant for local CPA firms in the West Palm Beach, FL. Consequently, Ann established MMR Accounting & Consulting Services, operating as the founding partner and tax consultant in two locations; West Palm Beach, Florida and Yonkers, New York. This is a full service boutique accounting firm that specializes in Income Tax Preparation, Tax Planning, Business Consultation, Incorporation and Bookkeeping Services.
To this day, Ms. McLaughlin continues her passion for ambitious endeavors. Not only has she committed herself as an educator but also as a mentor as well. As an adjunct business instructor (Baccalaureate Studies) at Palm Beach State College, she was nominated for the Gimelstob Students' Choice Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2011.
Ms. McLaughlin has been involved in her community through various organizations. She is presently an active member of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., and the Caribbean Education Foundation. She is also collaborating with the “Adopt-a-Family of the Palm Beaches” organization in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Ann McLaughlin has clearly established herself as the apogee of dedication and service for others to follow. Her persistence and drive has been an example of true tenacity and perseverance for youngsters in the Caribbean and around the world to follow. Ann now resides in West Palm Beach, FL where she enjoys playing music, chess, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family. She says her purpose in life is “to change the world one smile at a time”.
