Beginning this fall, MBA students in the Monroe College King Graduate School will be able to focus their studies on information technology to broaden their academic experiences, lend focus to their studies, and improve prospects for career advancement.   The IT concentration joins Finance and Healthcare Management specializations that are part of the school's MBA offerings.    As a result, the Monroe MBA programs allow students to study in-depth the areas that interest them the most.

"In the modern workplace, there is an increasing emphasis on technology," said Dr. Conrad Goldberg, Dean of the MBA Program.  "As a result, modern managers now play a vital role in implementing that technology.  So we developed this IT concentration to give our MBA graduates a competitive edge in advancing and succeeding in their careers."

The IT concentration includes courses in IT Concepts, Design, and Analysis, Managing Web and Database Technologies, and Operational Excellence in Information Technology.  As a result, students will learn to apply sophisticated technology to maximize business efficiency.

"Our program stresses achieving business goals that involve technology," Dr. Goldberg said.  "So the emphasis is on managerial skills, business operations and financial imperatives.  Obtaining hands-on real-world experience during the course of the graduate program is another important component. We teach how to evaluate new technologies and how to strategically invest in and manage IT resources and projects."

Students who have undergraduate degrees in information technology will find that the IT concentration has been tailored to their background and career objectives.  However, according to Dr. Goldberg, any student with a genuine interest can qualify.
