FIRST CLASS – Master’s Program in Criminal Justice

History was made on September 9 in Ustin Hall, as the King Graduate School inaugurated the Bronx’ first Master’s degree program in Criminal Justice.  As Professor Deniese Kennedy-Kollar gathered the students for a photo in her Supreme Court, the US Constitution, and Criminal Law class, Dean Basil Wilson beamed.

“We’re proud of the high-level academic program we’re launching,” Dr. Wilson said.   “Most importantly, this forges a new era of opportunity not only for the study of criminal justice, but for preparing the practitioners who will have impact on the security of our nation and our world in the years to come.”

The King Graduate School’s Master of Science degree program in Criminal Justice is designed to expand students’ career opportunities in domestic and international crime-fighting with the FBI, CIA, NSA, TSA, counter-terrorism, homeland security, drug enforcement, customs and border protections, Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, the Secret Service, and other agencies.

The fall semester at Monroe brought other new developments on the Bronx campus including expanded student services with a new Office of Student Development expressly dedicated to the needs of students transitioning into college life for the first time.

Also, the School of Allied Health Sciences opened a suite of state-of-the-art labs for the Pharmacy Technician degree program, including two simulated pharmacies and a fully-functional pharmaceutical lab and prep room.

In addition, Campus Dining Services cut the ribbon on “The JAG”, the Jerome Avenue Grille, a full-size serving center and a brand new 120-seat dining hall with custom booths, leather chairs, and state-of-the-art sound system.
