FAFSA on the Web

The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and must be completed to apply for any type of financial aid program.

1. Students will need to gather the following before beginning the FAFSA on the Web process:

  • PIN
  • Social Security number
  • Alien registration card (if not a U.S. citizen)
  • Driver's license
  • 2008 W-2 Forms and other records of money earned
  • 2008 Federal Income Tax Return (and for spouse, if married)
  • 2008 untaxed income records (Social Security, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, Veterans Benefits records, child support received.

2. Complete the FAFSA

Campus-based StudentsOnline Students

Students may complete the FAFSA on the Web at the College's Financial Aid Office or on their home computer. If done at home, students must make sure they print the confirmation page and bring it to the Financial Aid Office at the campus they are planning to attend.

Students must go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and follow the directions given there. They must then print the confirmation page and electronically copy and paste the page to their email. This email must be sent to atorres@monroecollege.edu for both freshman and continuing students.

New York State Residence Only

Once the FAFSA is complete, if students are NYS residents, the link to TAP (TOTW) will appear on the last page. Students must complete the TAP Web application, print it out and then submit it. They must bring the TAP and FAFSA confirmations to the Financial Aid Office at the campus they are planning to attend.
